Standing in front of Leading Independent Vancouver Bookstore in the dark. Realizing that most of what is good in the fall-color-themed window is already on the shelves in Main Street's front room.

Realizing that I own a real business after all.

(Much) later that evening: anxiety dream. Hole in the ground at Main Street, billboard-plastered hoarding where the store once stood, noisy Richard Scarry excavators and cranes laboring behind it. None of the keys in my absurdly big ring fit the graffiti-covered door in the plywood facade. (A door which, with morning's clarity, seems to have stepped directly from Scott McFarland's Key Colour down at the VAG).

Reporting the dream to L.

"Nobody sent you the redevelopment plans?"
